Mortgage Lending in a Digital Age

GENERATIONAL SHIFT in a digital age!

They say adapt or die.  With that in mind I proudly present MY WEBSITE.  Whether you are a polar bear living on shrinking ice, or a mortgage lender living in the electronic age, the principle applies. I’ve long believed in the “old school” approach of “high touch over high tech”. Don’t misunderstand; I’ve had the ability to conduct business electronically for years. The loan origination and processing systems I use have robust online modules, but I’ve resisted them. I’ve always felt that a mortgage is a big deal and borrowers deserve to sit side by side with me and go over the massive amount of documentation required.

When someone is borrowing a quarter of a million dollars and obligating themselves for the next 30 years, an hour of face time is well worth the effort. So governed by that policy I almost always schedule a time to sit down with a new client and carefully educate them on the process. I’ve done it so many times it’s well rehearsed. I know what borrowers do and do not care about and I’m able to quickly and concisely boil the documents down to their basic meaning for them, and maybe bring a little levity to the madness.

But lately it’s been different. I’ve seen a shift in my client base to a younger more
computer savvy “Millennial”. And so I bow to a new age. If you want to apply online, you got it. If you want to sign the application documents electronically while wearing pajamas, no problem. I’ll still be here, and when it comes time to analyze the cost benefit of “buying down the rate”, or whether or not your credit history needs some work, or how much of your overtime pay counts, well I’ll still be here right at your side. The largest financial transactions most people ever make is buying a house. I’m still here right here, but I want to make it convenient for you too. I’ll incorporate those tools into my business model.

SO TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK. I spent the past few months adding and tweaking online services and encryption security to my website. Online application, eSigning, secure document sharing, even uploading your personal documents (bank statements, W2s, etc) directly to your file, bypassing email, NO PROBLEM. And if you want to do things the old fashioned way, I’ll keep the light on at the office for you too!  https://utahsims.com/
